From Pastor Dennis
Summertime
is almost here which means no more school. Yes this is the time of year when many life long memories
are made as some families spend quality time together enjoying the wonder of God’s creation while on
vacation. Some will be spending most nights and days at the various ballparks playing, coaching, and/or
cheering other family members on as they use their talents and abilities. And I pray that during these
memorable moments we take ample time to praise God for allowing us the privilege and opportunities to
do so. But at times during the summer families can become so busy, even consumed by so many things
going on that there ends up being no time left in the day to be together. And if we’re not taking
time to be together with one another, how much time do you think we’re spending together with God?
Matthew 6:33 tells us to seek first the kingdom of God and all these things shall be added to you.
Does God want us to enjoy His creation? Of course He does, we are the reason He created it. Does
God want us to enjoy using our talents and abilities? Of course He does that’s why He gave them to
us. But His desire is that we use them for His glory and honor. So this summer let us determine in
our hearts and minds to give God the glory as we bask in His wondrous beauty, talents and abilities for
He is worthy! Summertime

is there in this life that you can trust to never change and/or let you down? What is there today that
you can have complete certainty in? It’s certainly not the weather or a job. I doubt that it’s
in your investments and/or retirement anymore. So how are we place our hope and trust in a world that
is so uncertain? The answer is we’re not because we can’t. In John 17:12-19, Jesus is telling
us that all who are washed in His blood are in the world but not of
the world. We place our faith and trust in the One who made the world. But as you well know
being in the world and yet not allowing the world to affect the way we live for Christ is not easy.
That is why God calls us as believers to join a bible preaching/teaching church and then meet together
with them regularly to worship Him. But can’t we worship God on our own, in our own home? Yes we
can as Jesus told the woman at the well in John 4, we worship Him in spirit; but not to the extent
that God desires us to worship Him. For the closer our relationship is with Christ who saved us, the
more we long to meet with others He has saved. Why? So we can both be strengthened and yet used to
strengthen others as the Holy Spirit of God moves in our midst. Why are we to spend so much time worshipping
God with one another? Because unlike the world; God never changes (Malachi
3:6). God is also fully trustworthy and therefore whoever will seek Him with
all their heart for whatever need they might have; will find Him (Matt 7:7-8). Seeking
Christ Jesus is a promise you can “bet your life on”; because true life is
only found in Him (John 14:6). God loves you and wants His best for you, and if you will let Him He
will pour it out abundantly upon you.

Visitation Ministry It
is almost September. A hint of autumn is in the air, kids are back in school, the Redskins are trying
their best to win in pre-season football and we, at Jeffersonton Baptist Church, are getting ready to
begin another church and Sunday School year. This is a perfect time to ask the Lord what He would like
for us to do, what ministry (ies) would He like for us to become involved. The Visitation
ministry at JBC could use more volunteers, men and women. All Christians are called to witness of what
Christ has done for us and to lift up the body of Christ. We challenge you to make a commitment to
come out for this ministry. If you can commit to participate at least one Tuesday evening a month and
go out with a team of two others, that would help to take this ministry to the next level. You
will not be put on the spot. You will not have to quote scripture. You just have to be pleasant and
be willing to go where He leads. I hope members will pray and seek the Lord’s will in this ministry
opportunity. Come expecting a blessing because you will surely receive it. George Moltz
