What are Awana Clubs?Boy Reading Handbook

Awana is a children/ ministry designed and proven to hide the word of God in the hearts of children as young as 2 years of age!  AWANA (which stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed) is derived from 2 Timothy 2:15 "Be diligent to present yourself approved of God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth"  Clubs at JBC will follow the public school schedule.
Our current club year will run September-May, break for the summer and resume the following September.  Clubs meet Sunday evenings from 5-7 PM.Currently we have 6 clubs (listed below).  Our leaders are trained annually and committed to sharing God's word and helping children to have a personal desire to follow Jesus. Registration begins in August and runs through May 1, so no child must wait to join a club, and make new friends.

Our Club program has a routine that helps the children establish long term friendships.

♦ Assembly - for all ages (clubs) to come together for singing, pledges, and sharing prayer concerns.

♦ Class time - where clubbers recite memory verses, and learn basic concepts and principles.

♦ Game time- is the clubbers highlight - if you have never experienced AWANA games, we encourage you to come and observe.

♦ Closing Assembly - all clubs combine to have a bible lesson and prayer.

As a ministry leader for 60 years, Awana is making an impact. A recent national survey found Awana to be as important to our alumni's spiritual foundation as all other church activities combined. Among alumni who participated in our programs for at least six years, 92.7 percent still attend church at least weekly as adults!

Each week, more than 1.5 million kids ages 2 to 18 participate in Awana. Over 12,000 churches in the U.S. and more than 10,000 internationally run Awana programs that change young lives through biblical truth.

We invite you to come and check out a club night and see for yourself how it has already begun to impact the lives of the clubbers and our leaders.  You will see why we at JBC are so excited to have this ministry opportunity and are certain you will help spread the word to bring more clubbers to JBC and thereby share the gospel!

See you soon.

 "AWANA Clubs"

Puggles® -  2- and 3-years old

Puggles recognizes the learning ability of 2- and 3-year olds by introducing biblical precepts at church and equipping parents to teach them at home. Toddlers love having their very own Awana club just like their older siblings.

In Puggles, children are welcomed each week with play time, songs and simple crafts and activities. Leaders present age-appropriate lessons using large, colorful teaching cards, finger puppet plays and more. Lessons teach and reinforce four basic biblical precepts:

  • God Made Everything
  • God Saw That It Was Good
  • God is Love
  • Give Thanks

Special take-home cards that correspond to each week's lesson help parents nurture their child's faith at home. Participating in Puggles will give your child a head start on the path to loving and following God for life.

Cubbies -  preschoolers (3- to 5-years old)

Cubbies® celebrates the spiritual potential of preschoolers (3- to 5-year olds) by helping them develop respect for God, His Son and His Word.  Preschoolers can hardly wait for their next Cubbies club meeting.

Preschoolers can hardly wait for their next Cubbies club meeting. Whether it's the fun puppets, the exciting games or all their Cubbies friends, they simply love it. At Story Time each week, preschoolers learn about God – the greatness of His love and His Word – and about His Son, Jesus Christ, the promised Savior. Non-competitive games build excitement and reinforce Story Time lesson themes.

Cubbies helps you lead your child to God early so your child will respect and trust Him for life.

Sparks  - k- 2nd grade

Sparks® ignites the curiosity of early elementary-age kids to learn about the people and events of the Bible, building a foundation of wisdom for knowing Christ.

Sparks is divided into three years, each with a unique rank: HangGlider®, WingRunner® and SkyStormer™. Each year, Sparks clubbers:

  • explore the biographies of people of the Bible from a new portion of Scripture
  • memorize Bible verses
  • complete handbook activities

The handbooks, combined with Large Group Time lessons from the WHO Do I Need to Know From the Bible series, take your child on a journey through the entire Bible!

Truth and Training  (TnT)- Grades 3 & 4 Ultimate Adventure;  Grades 5 & 6 Ultimate Challenge

T&T engages third- through sixth-graders by answering their questions about God and the Bible, guiding them through this pivotal life stage to grow in Christ's grace. Handbooks and large-group lessons deepen a child's knowledge about God and His Word and teach how to put that knowledge into action in everyday life.

Local churches can run the T&T clubs separately or combine them for Large Group Time and Game Time. In any case, the two clubs are designed to help kids stay plugged into T&T as they move into the preteen years and continue growing in their relationship with Christ.

Today, 10- to 12-year-olds, known as tweens, face unique pressures, demands and distractions. These factors can result in a marked increase in discouragement, apathy and disengagement. Christian children are not immune. Awana has responded by updating T&T to reinforce commitment, identity and community for these kids and to give third- and fourth-graders a new club stage to anticipate. These updates also focus the attention of leaders on the unique challenges and needs of this age group.

The ultimate message to kids of every age group is that nothing is more important than their relationship with Christ and following His way of living in the Scriptures.

Trek   Middle School Curriculum Grades 7-8.

Awana Youth Ministries has launched a new 3 year middle school curriculum. This new program challenges students to wrestle with the three most important questions they’re asking in middle school:

  • Who am I?
  • Why am I here?
  • Who’s with me?

By allowing students to dive deep into the Scriptures and answer these questions for themselves we allow them to own their faith and discover what they actually believe.  We are very excited about the new Trek and can't wait to show it to you. If you have used Trek before, you will find the new Trek a welcomed update. If you have never used the Awana Middle School program with your church before, now is the perfect time to jump in.
