Our Cemetery

Welcome to the Jeffersonton Baptist Church Cemetery located in Jeffersonton, VA

This Historic Cemetery, located at 18498 Springs Road, Jeffersonton, VA 22724, is devoted to the members past, present and future of Jeffersonton Baptist 

Church.  Buried within our walls are the builders and residents of the Jeffersonton Community and their family members.

Winter Activities:

Yearly From November 1st until March 15th – Floral Arrangements are permitted on the Grave site itself.

Please note any wreath or other materials that either blow off or become weathered or wilted will be removed without notice.

Our data:

Our data base is a listing of the known and unknown burials, actual dates when available from public records, (not tombstone inscriptions) and a collection of death certificates, and obituaries as assembled for those that we can find in the public records.  If you find your loved one’s information is not correct on the public record.  Please contact us and help us remember them correctly. 

Funding:

Maintenance of the grounds and wall are provided by yearly donations, and sale of plots only. Plots are available by purchase by church members.  If you would like to help preserve this historic site, please make your tax-deductible donation to the address below.

Specifications For Gravestones in Jeffersonton Baptist Church Cemetery

Grave markers will not be wider than 36″ for a single grave and 78″ for a double grave. All markers must remain withing the bounds of the actual grave which is 3′ by 7′. No marker shall exceed a height of 4′ for a solid stone and 6′ for a spire. Any mausoleum must be given prior authorization. Any inspection must be done by a member of the Cemetery Committee during the foundation preparation, after the foundation hole is dug and before the stone is set.

For an upright stone:

The foundation of the stone must be dug to 3 feet below the ground level and the exact circumference of the stone. The foundation consists of poured concrete mixed with crushed rock and gravel and is allowed to set before the stone is placed.

No attachment is required between the stone and the foundation.

For a flush stone:

Flush stones are usually 4 inches in height. The foundation is dug to the dimensions of the stone and two feet deep. It is then filled to within 5 inches of the ground surface with dry Sakrete. An inch of sand is paced on top of the Sakrete, and the stone is laid immediately, bringing it to ground level.
